Have a cup of coffee in New York City

I shared with you last time, my discoveries in New York about cocktail bars. Just remembering those nights, I’m getting nostalgic. Well, I didn’t talk about coffee, and trust me when the French say the american coffee is a real « jus de chaussette » (sock juice), I can’t let them talk now. It was a real revelation for me and I drank the best Ethiopian chemex coffee.

Stop talking, just go check out these lovely spots (no order) :

So I was looking for a nice place to grab a coffee in Brooklyn, because I wanted to spend a day there (mandatory). So I met the manager of Stumptown Coffee Roastery in a restaurant and he gave me this address, so I jumped to this opportunity. This place is so cute and the coffee – from Stumptown, of course – is amazing. I had an Ethiopian chemex. Marvelous.

I was just walking, looking around when I found this amazing place. After that, I realized that I have this address in my wonderful book about food entrepreneurs all around the world. So. I was walking, and this image of a bike on top of the bar just stopped me. I walked back and went in. It’s stuck between two streets, nearly in the corner, just 6 steps to get from one side to the other. Amazing. Like most of the coffee places, you are here to order a coffee to go, they don’t want you to stay. Well, it’s not a habit there.

KAFFE 1668
Absolutely beautiful. When I asked my friends for a nice place to grab a coffee, I was expecting that. Huge, well designed, very unique and cosy… Perfect.
I asked for a « noisette » just to watch their faces and ordered a macchiato. I also tried a cold brew and an Ethiopian filter coffee. It’s perfect to spend some time with friends there. To read ? Not a very good idea, a little bit dark.

Kaffe 1668, 275 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10007

My first coffee in NYC. This place is cute with a lot of interesting coffee machines. They have a special multi filters in order to make 5 filter coffees at the same time. Amazing. You can also find some delicious cakes and other sweet things. Here, there are some tables, benches and a terrace at the back to sit and chat. Perfect.

Café Grumpy, 224 W 20th St, New York, NY 10011

I went to this place the last day of my food-trip. It was near my place. I walked so many timespast it saying I will come back tomorrow. And the last day, when I sat there to have a coffee, I just realized that I should had spent more time here. Firstly, the atmosphere is very relaxing and cool. The food is good even if it’s simple. And secondly, you can meet so many actors. I don’t know why, but it seems that they like this place.

I had the pleasure to meet Drew, the manager of the roastery in Brooklyn, he offered me a tour and showed me how to roast coffee, how it works… It was a very nice experience. I also had the opportunity to taste their cold brew. Amazing. They have some shops in Manhattan where you can buy some coffee bags and try some of their nice products.
